Patriots Break Pair of School Records as UC Tallies 18 National Cuts

Danville, KY – The Cumberlands men's swimming & diving team achieved 18 NAIA national cuts and broke a pair of school records as the Patriots extended their lead atop the team standings after day two of the Speedo Centre Invite.  UC has notched 1,647.5 points over the first two days of competition, including four wins on the day.

Fabrizio Pacioni and Alexander Poulsen each broke a school record.  Pacioni touched the wall in 3:55.52 in the 400 IM to pull away from the field and shatter the school record by almost three seconds.  That time was also the top time in the NAIA this season.

After qualifying second in the 100 fly, Poulsen clocked an 47.76 to hit the NAIA A cut and broke the school record.  It marks Poulsen's third individual school record this season and it is the top NAIA time this season.

Cumberlands also broke the meet record en route to earning a one-two finish in the 200 medley relay.  The quartet of Ruthiik Satti, Leon Irmer, Poulsen, and Adam Geddis teamed up to go 1:28.69, which is the second fastest time this season.  UC also notched a win in the 800 free relay, clocking a winning time of 6:49.25.

UC had a trio of swimmers reach the A final of the 200 free led by Geddis, who went 1:39.43 to place third.  Arda Mutlu went 1:41.85 to place fifth, while Arvid Farro finished seventh with a time of 1:42.38.

Satti notched a pair of runner-up finishes on the day.  The senior went 48.68 in the 100 fly, before clocking a 49.16 in the 100 back.  Brandon Holder went 49.32 to place third in the 100 fly.  Josh Riegler (50.34) and Zsombor Bene (50.91) placed fourth and seventh, respectively.

In the 400 IM Juan Pablo Ramirez Zapata went 4:04.17 to place third as Marcos del Vado Sanz finished ninth clocking a time of 4:19.25.

A trio of Pats reached the "A" final of the 100 breast led by Irmer who went 54.99 to post a runner-up finish.  Jeremiah Koenig place third, while Luke Rich finished eighth clocking times of 55.98 and 58.04, respectively.
 
UC returns to the pool Sunday, November 23rd, when they close out competition at the Speedo Centre Invite.  Prelims kick-off at 10 a.m.
