Patriots Extend Win Streak To Close Out 2025

Williamsburg, KY – The #12 Cumberlands women's basketball team picked up right up right where they left off earning a dominate 83-35 win over Union Commonwealth Tuesday night on Randy Vernon Court.  With the win, UC improves to 14-1 on the year and are winners of eight straight.

Joy Kendrick paced the Patriots with 20 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals.  Darcie Anderson netted a career-high 16 points and seven stelas, while Lakin Burke chipped in 12 points, including a career-high two three-pointers.  Aden Clark finished with 11 points and five assists as Zaram Fredricks grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds.

UC opened the game on a 14-0 run, that spanned four minutes, with five Patriots netting baskets.  Anderson and Mackenzie Babb notched back-to-back steals resulting in fast break layups to extend their lead to 18-2 with 3:52 remaining.  Clark closed out the quarter converting a pair of pull-up jumpers to make it a 24-4 lead.

Anderson scored for straight as Cumberlands began the second quarter on a 10-0 run that was capped off with an Amy Thompson layup giving the Pats a 34-4 advantage.  The two teams traded baskets before Kendrick converted a three-point play at the buzzer making it 41-13 at the break.

After trading possession to open the third period, Kendrick notched a pair of buckets, a steal, and an assist making it 52-19 with 6:09 remaining.  Cumberlands continued their strong defensive effort coupled with three-pointers from Burke and Clark and an Alexia Wilson layup to close out the period making it 64-26.  UC outscored Union 19-9 in the fourth quarter as Fredricks notched six points, seven rebounds, and three blocks over the final ten minutes.  Clark added two steals and a trio of assists as the Patriots earned the 83-35 final.

Cumberlands returns to the court Saturday, January 3rd, when they host Miami-Hamilton.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
