Lawrenceville, GA – The #18 UC Men's Tennis team competed in two matches on day two of the Georgia Gwinnett Invitational. Cumberlands dropped both games to highly ranked opponents in #1 Georgia Gwinnett and #13 Cumberland University.  

In their first match of the day, UC fell to #1 Georgia Gwinnett 4-0. The Grizzlies quickly grabbed the doubles point with wins in #1 and #3 doubles to take a 1-0 lead.  

Georgia Gwinnett kept the momentum going in singles by winning the next three matches in straight sets to secure the win. The rest of the match was left unfinished.  

The Patriots took on a common foe in #13 Cumberland University for a non-conference matchup.  

The Phoenix opened the match strong, taking the first two doubles matches to grab an early 1-0 advantage.  

Cumberlands tied things up at 1-1 after Juanchi Alcon earned a win in #1 singles. The senior took his match over Vitor Ferreira in straight sets 6-3, 6-1.  

The Phoenix regained the lead at 2-1 after taking the second singles match at the #2 spot.  

Pierluigi Cruypenninck put Cumberlands on the board for a second time, as the graduate student emerged victorious in his singles match. The France native defeated Elisey Kalashnikov 6-4, 6-3 at the #6 spot to tie the match at 2-2.  

The Phoenix captured the next three singles matches to seal the 5-2 victory for Cumberland.
