Bosah Record Season-High 13 Saves in Top-10 Win

Williamsburg, KY – Goalie Mia Bosah tallied a season-high 13 saves, while five Patriots notched multi-goal games in the 16-6 win over #10 Ave Maria Sunday afternoon at the UC Lacrosse Field. With the win, UC improves to 4-0 on the season.

Aleyah Belton tallied five goals and seven points in the win, while Emma Rittman chipped in three goals, seven draw controls, and seven ground balls.  Anna Lobbezoo, Marisa Helsten, and Ashlee Baker each netted a pair of goals in the win.  Koral Hadac scooped five draw controls and three ground balls in the victory.

Hadac won the opening draw control of the game and on that possession Belton dodged and scored giving UC the 1-0 lead.  Bosash tallied three saves before Rittman ripped a man-up goal to make it 2-0. Less than a minute later, Lobbezoo put a well-placed shot into the cage to give UC a 3-0 lead.  Bosah added a pair of saves while Ave Maria scored three of the next four goals giving the Patriots a 4-3 lead.

Bosah made a save on a free position before Belton notched her third goal of the game extending the lead to 5-3.  Belton tacked on a goal before connecting with Ashlee Baker to make it 7-3 midway through the second quarter.  Both defenses picked up the pressure over the final eight minutes of the period as the Gyrenes added a late goal cutting the lead to 7-4 at the break.

The Patriots doubled up Ave Maria on a Lobbezoo free position goal.  UC tallied a pair of caused turnovers to go along with a Bosah save before Cumberlands netted four goals in a three-minute span.  Florence Andrieu sparked the rally as UC won four straight draw control with the last one resulting in Baker find Sarah Linam for her first goal of the season, giving the Patriots a 12-4 advantage.  Both teams added a goal late in the quarter as UC took a 13-5 lead into the fourth.

Bosah made a pair of saves in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter while Baker found Rittman cutting towards the cage for a goal.  After the two teams traded goals, Belton connected with Helsten, who put a well-placed shot on cage for the 16-6 final.

Cumberlands will hit the road next weekend as they travel to Fort Wayne, IN to face eighth-ranked Indiana Tech on Friday, February 28th.  The match is slated to begin at 5 p.m.
