Box Score Harrogate, TN – The #13 UC Men's Tennis team traveled to take on NCAA DII foe Lincoln Memorial Thursday afternoon. Cumberlands fell by a score of 6-1 with the point coming in #5 singles.
The Railsplitters earned the doubles point after sweeping all three matches. Martin Couto and Bosco Fernandez battled in #2 doubles, falling 7-5.
To begin singles play, Liam Savio pushed Harper Mills to three-sets in what was a heavily contested match. After dropping the first set 6-0, Savio bounced back in the second set to grab a 6-3 win. The graduate student would eventually fall in the third set 6-3 to give the #1 singles point to Lincoln Memorial.
Pierluigi Cruypenninck recorded the only win for UC in the match. The graduate student earned a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 win over Ethan Hirons at #5 singles.
Sampras Rakotondrainibe forced a third-set against his opponent Franco Battaglino in #6 singles. The junior fell in the first set 6-2 but rebounded with a 6-4 win in the second. In the third-set, he fell by a score of 10-5, giving the final point of the day to the Railsplitters.
The Patriots will compete at the Georgia Gwinnett Invitational next weekend.
