Birmingham, AL – The Patriots had a pair earn the opportunity to compete at the Millrose Games in New York while the sprints squad traveled to UAB to run at the green and Gold Invite.
Cole Bennett and Dillan Melchiore were UC's competitors in the mile racewalk at Millrose. Bennett finished fifth overall against professional competitors, crossing the finish line in 6:12.36. Melchiore was right on his teammate's heels, clocking a 6:13.58 for sixth.
At UAB, the Pats ran in the 60m, 200m, and 400m dashes. The 60m featured Iloba Godspower led the way in the 60m with a 6.94 finish for 10th while Donte Sol followed with a 6.95 for 12th. Isaiah Oquendo rounded out the Patriots in the 60m with a 7.01 for 14th overall.
The 200m saw Jaysaun Smith run a 22.18 for 22nd while Oquendo clocked a 22.90 200m finish for 36th. Godspower finished UC's day in the 400m with a 49.57, placing 15th overall.
The Patriots will now turn their attention towards next week as the Mid-South Conference Championships will be held on Thursday in Louisville, KY.
