Patriots Fall in Road Matchup

West Palm Beach, FL – In a top match up, the third ranked Patriots men's lacrosse team couldn't overcome an early deficit as they fell to top-ranked Keiser 22-10 Thursday night.  With the win the Seahawks improve to 6-0, while the Patriots move to 6-1.

Maleek Wilson led the way for UC with four points, while Johnathan Vanover and Will Rogers each netted a hattrick.  Dakota White and Michael Adams each scooped four ground balls, while goalies Jack Bichsel and Nathan Foskey combined for 14 saves.
 
Bichsel opened the game with back-to-back saves in the opening minute before the Seahawks  jumped out to a 2-0 lead.  Michael Adams won the faceoff and on that possession Johnathon Vanover put a well-placed shot into the cage to cut the deficit to 2-1 with 11:07 remaining.  After Keiser extended their lead to 4-1, Vanover netted his second goal of the night to make it 4-2 with 5:08 left.  UC pulled within a goal a minute later as Maalek Wilson notched an unassisted goal, however, Keiser scored twice in the closing minutes of the quarte to take the 6-3 lead.

Dakota White won the opening possession of the second quarter and the Patriots capitalized as Nick Kava found Will Rogers for a goal to cut the deficit to 6-4.  Keiser netted three straight goals, before Wilson found Rogers for a goal to cut the deficit to 9-5 with 8:26 remaining.  UC added goals by Evan Barton and Wilson in the closing minutes of the quarter, however, trail 12-7 at half.

Taylor Long forced a turnover a minute into the third quarter and on the transition Kava finished to pull UC within four at 12-8. A minute later, Nathan Foskey made a save and on the ensuing transition Vanover completed his hat trick making it a 12-9 game.  That was the closest Cumberlands came as Keiser outscored the Patriots 10-1 over the rest of regulation.

The Patriots continue their road trip on Saturday when they travel to Babson Park, FL to face #2 Webber on Saturday, March 15th.  Game time is set for 12 p.m.
