Babson Park, FL – The-third ranked Patriots men's lacrosse netted four goals in the first quarter but it wasn't enough as they fell to second-ranked Webber in overtime Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Warriors improve to 8-0 on the season and 4-0 in AAC play, while the Patriots move to 6-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
Evan Barton led the way with a career-high five goal in the contest, while
Maalek Wilson tallied a goal and an assist in the game.
Dakota White went 10-18 on faceoffs with five ground balls, while
Taylor Long notched a pair of caused turnovers.
Nathan Foskey made 10 saves in the game.
Dakota White won the opening faceoff and on that possession UC worked it around until
Maalek Wilson put a well-placed shot to make it 1-0. Two minutes later, Wilson connected with
Evan Barton for a goal extending the lead to 2-0.
Owen Hebenstreit forced a Warriors turnover and on the ensuing possession
Nick Kava connected with Barton for a goal to make it 3-0 midway through the first quarter.
Caden Abbott added an unassisted goal late in the opening quarter to extend UC's lead to 4-1.
Nathan Foskey, who made his first start of the season made a save in the opening minutes of the second quarter. Webber netted four unanswered goals until

Dennis Smith, who put a shot into the upper corner of the cage tying the game at 5-5. The score remained that way until the closing minute of the quarter when Barton dodged in an put a bouncer into the cage make it 6-5 in favor of Cumberlands.
Foskey tallied a save two minutes into the third quarter and on the ensuing transition
Johnathon Vanover connected with
Nick Kava for a goal to extend the lead to 7-5.
Evan Barton netted two more goals as the Patriots take a 9-7 lead into the fourth quarter.
Webber pulled within a goal before Foskey made a pair of saves to keep Cumberlands in front late in the fourth quarter. The Patriots defense forced a trio of Warriors turnovers to remain in front with two minutes remaining. The score remained that way until the final seconds of regulation as Nick Sheaffer forced a turnover and found Jeremiah Loo for the game tying goal with two seconds left.
Webber won the first possession of overtime and scored the game winning goal for the 10-9 final.
Cumberlands continues their road trip next Saturday, March 22
nd, when they travel to West Point, GA to face (RV) Point. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
