Indianapolis, IN – The third-ranked Patriots women's lacrosse team netted nine goals in the second quarter to pull away from the 15-7 win over (RV) Marian Sunday afternoon.  With the win, UC improves to 6-0 on the season, while the Knights move to 2-3 overall.

The Patriots dominated the possession early in the third quarter winning three straight draw controls and netted a trio of goals, including a pair of Anna Lobbezoo to take a 4-3 lead with 13:41 remaining.  The Knights evened the score, while UC had a pair of shot deflect off the post before Baker found Helsten for a goal as Cumberlands took a 5-4 lead midway through the quarter.  The Patriots added five goals, in a 3:40 span, including a pair from Baker to make it a 10-4 game at half.

Rittman won the opening draw control in the third quarter and on that possession Florence Andrieu dodged and put a well-placed shot on frame extending the lead to 11-4.  Cumberlands continued to pressure Marian as Bosah tallied pair of saves while Tessa Lisy converted a free position goal to give UC a 12-5 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Cumberlands forced a Knights turnover to start the fourth quarter and on the ensuing possession Morgan Tate put a well-placed shot into the cage making it 13-5.  After Madison Rupp tallied a caused turnover, Helsten and Rittman scored back-to-back goals extending the lead to 15-5 with 6:31 remaining.  The Knights scored twice in the closing minutes for the 15-7 final.
