St. Louis, MO – The fourth-ranked Patriots women's lacrosse team led wire-to-wire to earn the 15-10 win over #8 Missouri Baptist Saturday afternoon at Spartan Field.  With the win, UC improves to 10-2 on the season.

Emma Rittman led the way for Cumberlands with a season-high six goals and seven points, to go along with five draw controls.  Anna Lobbezoo notched six points, while Aleyah Belton tallied four points.  Koral Hadac scooped four draw controls and four ground balls in the game, while Mia Bosah made 11 saves and 3 ground balls in the win.

Just over two minutes into the game, Hadac scooped a ground ball and on the ensuing transition, Florence Andrieu connected with Morgan Tate for a goal to put UC in front.  Rittman extended the Patriots lead with an unassisted goal, before Lobbezoo connected with Rittman for a goal and tallied one of her own to make it a 4-1 lead with 6:17 remaining.  Marisa Helsten and Lobbezoo each recorded goals in the closing minutes giving UC a 6-3 edge.

Bosah made a pair of saves as Missouri Baptist scored three of the first five goals in the second quarter cutting the lead to 8-6.  Lobbezoo extended the lead with a free position goal and tallying a caused turnover that led to a Rittman goal to give UC the 10-6 advantage.  Cumberlands looked to extend their lead but couldn't convert as they took a 10-7 lead into half.

The Patriots struck 16 seconds into the third quarter as Ashlee Baker connected with Rittman for a man-up goal.  Helsten and Belton each scored a goal 28 seconds apart to making it 13-7 with 10:28 remaining.  Both defenses picked up the pressure keeping the score 13-7 heading into the fourth quarter.

Tate and Rittman each recorded a caused turnovers, while Bosah made a trio of saves to keep the score 13-7 midway through the fourth quarter.  Missouri Baptist went on a 3-1 scoring run before Andrieu connected with Lobbezoo for a goal and the 15-10 final.

UC will return to the field Saturday, March 29, when they host Truett-McConnell.  The game is set to begin at 2 p.m. with live video available here.
