Senior Shine as Andrieu Breaks Single Game Assist Record

Williamsburg, KY – The fourth-ranked Patriots honored four seniors that combined for 11 goals and 14 points as UC defeated Truett McConnell 25-2 Saturday afternoon at the UC Lacrosse Complex.  Additionally, Florence Andrieu dished out a program record eight assists in the game as the Patriots improved to 11-2 overall and 2-0 in AAC play.

Morgan Tate tallied four goals, while Emma Rittman, Marisa Helsten, Aleyah Belton, and Ashlee Baker all notched four points.  Tess Lisy added a hat trick, while Mia Bosah netted her first goal of the season.  Rittman scooped nine draw controls and five ground balls, while Koral Hadac added seven draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers.  Reese Kincaid notched four caused turnovers as Mikayla Kimsey made three saves.

Helsten won the opening draw control and on that possession Mia Bosah put a well-placed shot for a goal 20 seconds into the game. UC added four straight goals from four different players, in a four minute span, to extend the lead to 5-0 with 10:27 remaining. Hadac added a draw control while Belton found Tate cutting towards the cage for a goal to extend the lead.  Hadac and Rittman both tallied caused turnovers as Kimsey made a save before Belton extended the lead to 7-0. Lisy and Anna Lobbezoo added goals in the closing minutes to make it a 10-0m lead after the first quarter.

UC forced a pair of Bears turnovers to opened the second quarter, while Belton added a no-look, over-the-shoulder goal to make it 12-0.  A few minutes, Andrieu connected with Kincaid for her first goal of the season midway through the quarter.  The score remained that way until the closing minutes when Lisy added her second goal to make it 14-0 at the break.

Kincaid notched a caused turnover to open the third quarter and on that possession, Baker connected with Helsten for a goal.  The two teams traded goals, before Andrieu found Baker for a goal.  A minute later Tate found Peyton Koenig for a goal to give UC an 18-1 lead.  Both teams scored goals to make it 19-2 heading into the fourth quarter.

Andrieu dished out goals to Lobbezoo, Helsten, and Tate to open the fourth quarter making it 22-2.  UC added three more goals with the final goal coming from Tate for the 25-2 final.

UC outshot Truett McConnell 46-7 in the game, had a 27-3 advantage on draw controls and limited the Bears to 7-23 on clears.

The Patriots return to the field Saturday, April 5, when they hit the road to face fifth-ranked Reinhardt.  Game time is set for 1 p.m.
