Patriots Ranked Third in NAIA Coaches’ Poll

Kansas City, MO – For the second straight poll, the Patriots men's lacrosse team earned 51 points to remain third in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, announced by the NAIA office Wednesday.  Cumberlands is 7-2 after posting a 22-8 win over (RV) Point to improve to 4-2 in AAC play.
 
The Patriots have outscored their opponents 124-81 so far this season, while there 8.30 goals against average is seventh in the NAIA.  UC is also third in the country with an 86.5% clear percentage.  On the season, the Patriots have scooped 293 ground balls and tallied 76 caused turnovers.
 
Cumberlands utilizes a balanced attack with five different players notching at least 20 points.  Maalek Wilson leads the way with 20 goals and 17 assists, while Evan Barton has netted a team-best 22 goals. Nick Kava has recorded 18 goals and nine assists while Johnathon Vanover and Dennis Smith have netted 16 and 14 goals, respectively.
 
Gabe Schwaiger has tallied a team-best 13 caused turnovers and 25 ground balls, while Taylor Long has added 31 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.  Dakota White has won 571.1% on faceoffs and scooped 41 ground balls for the Patriots.  UC goalies have combined for 91 saves and a .529 save percentage.
 
Keiser tallied six first place votes and 60 points to be ranked atop the poll.  Webber International is ranked second with 56 points, while Indiana Tech and Reinhardt round out the top ten.
 
Cumberlands returns to the field tonight, when they host Thomas More in a non-conference match-up.  The game is slated to begin at 5 p.m.
