Elkhart, IN – The Cumberlands women's swimming team had four All-American performances to sit in third place in the team standings heading into the final day of the NAIA Championships. UC recorded 253.5 points over the first three days of competition.
The Patriots had a pair of swimmers compete in the finals of the 400 IM.
Alicja Sedlak touched the wall in 4:34.97, which was six seconds faster than her prelim time, to win the consolation heat.
Ashley Schoenlein clocked a 4:39.00 to place 12
th overall.
Ugne Takuseviciute collected her first individual All-American honors in the 200 free as she clocked a 1:54.14 to place seventh.
Michelle Weiss dropped two seconds to place 10
th with a time of 1:54.82.
Sarah Zoellner scored in a pair of events, including earning All-American honors in the 100 fly as she clocked a 55.89. The sophomore also went 57.53 in the 100 back to finish tenth. Teammate
Filippa Malmstrom placed tenth in the 100 fly with a time of 57.24.
UC had a trio of swimmers in the finals of the 100 breast. Freshman
Megan Schoenlein notched a season-best time of 1:04.51 to place fifth overall.
Moa Nyblom went 1:05.40 to place 11
th, while Kate Harrison finished 15
th with a time of 1:06.06.
In the final event of the night, the 400 medley relay, Cumberlands posted a season-best time of 3:52.62 to place fifth. Zoellner led off the relay with a 57.15, while Schoenlein clocked a 1:04.53. Malmstrom split a 58.08, while Sedlak anchored the Pats with a 52.86.
The Patriots return to pool Saturday, March 7
th, for the final day of competition at the NAIA Championships. Prelims are set to begin at 9 a.m. with finals taking place at 5 p.m.
