Austin, TX – After exceling in the water as well as the classrooms sophomore's
Michelle Weiss and
Sarah Zoellner was named CSC Women's Swimming Academic All-America
® honors, it was announced Tuesday morning. Cumberlands was one of just two NAIA schools with multiple honorees.
Weiss earned her first CSC Academic All-America honors after a stellar campaign. The Pierre, South Dakota native was a three-time NAIA All-American and a four-time MSC All-Conference selection. Weiss was a two-time NAIA National Runner-Up this season, including clocking a 5:02.15 in the finals of the 500 free. That time was a career-best for Weiss and also was the fourth fastest time in program history. The sophomore followed that up by touching the wall in 17:20.55 for the 1650 free to earn a runner-up finish. That time was a career-best by over 10 seconds and is the second fastest time in program history. She was also a key part of UC's 800 free relay that posted a third place finish at nationals. Weiss' success at nationals came on the heels of a strong conference championship, where she won the 500 and 1650 free, while posting a runner-up finish in the 200 free and 800 free relay. Weiss is majoring in Mathematics & Middle School Education.
In her first season with the Patriots, Zoellner was excellent tallying seven NAIA All-American honors, while being a 7x MSC All-Conference selection. The Bowling Green, KY native notched a pair of individual All-American honors, highlighted by a third-place finish in the 200 fly, clocking a time of 2:04.32. That time is the second fastest time in program history. The sophomore went the program's fourth fastest time in the 100 fly, 55.89, to place fourth at the NAIA Championships. Zoellner was also a key part of the Patriots relays, leading all five relays to top-six finishes, while placing third in both the 800 free relay and 200 free relay. She also won both the 100 fly and 200 fly at the Mid-South Conference Championship meet. After her first season at UC, Zoellner holds the second fastest 100 back time (57.15), while her 52.09 in the 100 free is fourth in program history. Zoellner is majoring in Biology at UC.

Cumberlands captured their 13
th consecutive Mid-South Conference championship and placed fourth at the NAIA National Championship this season.
