Elkhart, IN – The Cumberlands men's swimming team record five All-American performances to close out the NAIA National Championships in fourth place, Saturday night at the Elkhart Aquatic Center. The Patriots recorded 338.5 points to post their fourth straight top five finish.
Ruthiik Satti utilized a strong surge on the back half of the 200 back to clock a season-best time of 1:46.28. That time earned the junior a third-place finish for All-American honors and is the second fastest time in program history.
Jan Lucow clocked a 1:52.41 to finish 16
th in the event.
The Patriots had a trio of NAIA All-American performances in the 200 fly. Zombor Bene led the charge for UC with a fifth place finish clocking a time of 1:48.68.
Marcelo Rojas followed in sixth place with a 1:49.62, while
Juan Ramirez Zapata notched an 1:51.29 to place eighth.
In the final event, the 400 free relay, Mateus Cruz,
Leon Irmer,
Arda Mutlu, and
Agustin Rasche teamed up to finish fifth. The quartet clocked a time of 3:00.56 in the finals.
UC opened finals with a pair of swimmers scoring in the 1650 free.
Will Gilbert went a career-best 16:03.14 to finish ninth in the event. That time is also the second fastest time in program history.
Sergio Saldamando Martinez touched the wall in 16:20.11 to place 15
th.
In the finals of the 100 free,
Agustin Rasche notched a 44.51 to finish tenth overall, improving on his 12
th place finish in the prelims.
Jeremiah Koenig placed 15
th overall in the 200 breast, touching the wall in 2:04.71.
