Atlanta, GA – The Pats rounded out their weekend at the Georgia Teach Invitational with a pair of event wins and multiple NAIA standards.
The day started with a bang as UCs 4x100 squad ran a 39.94 to win the event and record the first ever sub-40 second 4x100 in school history. The Pats, who already had the second-best time in the NAIA, are now just four hundredths of a second behind the top mark in the NAIA (39.90).
Iloba Godspower and Cam Andrew ran the opening two legs before
Eddie Van Wyk took over for the final curve. Van Wyk passed the baton to
Travion Dotson for the anchor leg, and he would cross the line for first place overall.
Dotson then earned his second win of the day as he placed first in the 200m dash with a 20.89 time. This is an A standard and a top-seven time in the NAIA, although Dotson already holds the number four spot from earlier this season. Andrews followed with a 20.91 for third overall and another A cut. This is tied for eighth so far this season. Andrews currently holds the third best 200m time this year as well.
Roderick Soto ran a 21.54 for 12
th while Van Wyk and
Matthew Chavers both ran 21.70 for 25
th and 26
th.
Kerrington Eubanks clocked a 21.77 for 30
th followed by
Isaiah Oquendo who crossed the finish line in 21.81.
Daniel Dixon was the final Patriot in the 200m, running a 22.24.
Godspower was the top Patriot finisher in the 400m with a 48.12 finish for 22
nd followed by a 48.17 from Soto for 24
th. Eubanks and
Nigel Steenwinkel also finished together running 48.52 and 48.53 for 33
rd and 34
th.
Cumberlands will compete in their final meet before conference next weekend in Louisville, KY.
