Three Pats Garner CSC Academic All-America Honors

Austin, TX – Three members of the UC Men's Tennis team were named to the College Sports Communicators Men's Tennis Academic All-America list, the CSC announced Wednesday. Luis Marcos and Liam Savio were selected to the First Team, while Juanchi Alcon secured Second Team honors.
 
The trio also received Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete and Academic All-Conference honors.
 
Savio finished his fourth season with UC, majoring in Business Administration and Exercise Sport Science. The Levanto, Italy native faced tough competition all year long, leading the Pats at the #1 spot in singles. Savio was named to the First Team All-Conference list for the first time. Savio posted a 4-1 record in singles play against conference competition, playing in the #1 spot. The graduate student finished the regular season 12-11 overall. In doubles, Savio paired with Juanchi Alcon and went 7-5 overall and 3-1 in the conference at #1 doubles.
 
Luis Marcos completed his second season with the Patriots, majoring in Business Administration. The Barcelona, Spain native was named a Second Team All-Conference selection for the first time after putting together a 17-3 overall record in singles, including a perfect 4-0 record in the conference.
 
Juanchi Alcon represented Cumberlands on the Second Team, majoring in Business Administration. On the court, Alcon garnered conference honors for the first time after earning a spot on the MSC Second Team All-Conference list. The senior secured a 15-8 overall record this season, including a 3-2 mark in the conference, primarily at #2 singles. Against tough competition, Alcon partnered with Liam Savio at #1 doubles and posted a 9-10 record.
 
The CSC Academic All-America® team is comprised of 12 members from across the NAIA.  To be eligible for this award a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher with a minimum GPA of 3.50.  They also have competed in at least 50% of its team's competition as well as been a contributor in the pool. This year is the third year that tennis has been recognized in its own category.  Tennis student-athletes were previously part of the At-Large category.
 
The Patriots Men's tennis team finished the season with an overall record of 20-9 and a 5-1 mark in MSC action. Cumberlands made it all the way to the Quarterfinals of the NAIA National Championships for the first time since 2003. UC also remained inside of the NAIA Coaches' Poll for the entire 2024-25 campaign, concluding the season ranked 13th.
