Williamsburg, KY – After playing a vital role in helping their respective team have incredible starts to the season outside hitter Brynnley Bryant and receiver Cade Lamb have been named the Pepsi Athletes of the Week, the athletic department announced Monday.
Brynnley Bryant earned athlete of the week honors after a strong performance during the Cumberlands Invite. The sophomore notched 33 kills, 28 digs, and four aces over three matches. Bryant set the tone for the Patriots with 19 kills and 14 digs in UC's 3-1 win over #17 Montana Tech. It was a career-high for kills and her first double-double of the season. She followed it up with eight kills and nine digs against Carolina University, before closing out the week with six kills and five digs against Union. Bryant was a key performer as the Patriots improve to 7-0 on the year.
Cade Lamb earned athlete of the week honors after a strong season debut in the win over Union Commonwealth. Lamb recorded four catches for a career-high 113 yards and two touchdowns in the game. With the score tied 8-8, Drew Gregg connected with Lamb for a 46-yard touchdown to put UC in front and they never looked back. Lamb followed that up by taking a screen pass 51-yard to the endzone putting the Patriots up 21-8. The sophomore becomes the first Patriot receiver since Brandon Stuckey (Southeastern 9/25/21) with multiple touchdowns in a game.
