Kansas City, MO – The University of the Cumberlands athletic department is one of the premier athletic departments in the NAIA, setting countless records both within their sports as well as in the classroom.  Their record-breaking performances, including a department-best GPA of 3.39, while 27 teams were named NAIA Scholar-Team honors for the 2024-2025 school year, announced by the NAIA National office Monday as part of the NAIA National Awards Day.  
 
The Patriots continue to showcase student-athletes success as UC has compiled a department best 3.39 cumulative GPA over the past year with 29 teams achieving at least a 3.00 team GPA.  In addition, 15 Patriot teams have notched at least a 3.50 team GPA or higher.  The Patriots had a school record 386 Mid-South Conference Academic All-Conference selections and 222 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.  This is the sixth time in the last seven years that UC had at least 19 teams earn this distinction, and it surpasses its previous school record of 25 set in 2024. 
 
Baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, women's bowling, cheerleading, men's cross country, women's cross country, dance, men's golf, women's golf, men's indoor track & field, women's indoor track & field, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's outdoor track & field, women's outdoor track & field, men's soccer, women's soccer, softball, men's swimming & diving, women's swimming & diving, men's tennis, women's tennis, volleyball, and men's wrestling are all repeat winners of this distinction.  Football and women's wrestling round out the Patriots 27 NAIA Scholar-Teams.
 
Women's tennis led the way for the Patriots with a 3.90 GPA with women's basketball, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, and men's swimming & diving all achieving at least a 3.70 GPA. During the spring semester, Cumberlands had 18 teams achieve a team GPA of 3.50 or higher. 
 
In addition to setting a school record, Cumberlands led the NAIA with 27 NAIA Scholar Teams.  To be eligible each team would have to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2024-202 school year. The full list of honorees can be found here.
