Georgetown, KY - The Patriots men's tennis team delivered a strong showing at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships, highlighted by a singles runner-up finish from Jacopo Cianfarini and a doubles championship from the top-seeded duo of Gabriele Solda and Darius Kuster

The Patriots had an impressive showing in doubles, where the No. 1 seeded pair of Solda and Kuster powered their way to the tournament title. The duo opened with decisive wins over Shawnee State and UT Southern before edging Bethel's Nishioka and Prado in the quarterfinals, 8-6. They carried that momentum through the semifinals with a commanding 6-1 win over Lindsey Wilson's Safont Martinez and Tobar Sanchez, and capped the run by defeating Larrea and Sholosh (Lindsey Wilson) 8-3 in the championship match.

In singles, top-seeded Maxence Petit advanced to the singles semifinals behind a dominant stretch of victories. After cruising through his first three matches, Petit defeated teammate Solda in the quarterfinals before falling in a tight semifinal battle to Lindsey Wilson's Lev Sholosh, 5-7, 0-6.

Cianfarini, seeded seventh, put together the deepest run of the tournament for the Patriots. After rallying past Pikeville's Anton Hoffmann in his opening match, Cianfarini rolled through the draw with wins over Lindsey Wilson's Jose David Tobar Sanchez, Campbellsville's Mariano Orsini Rodriguez, and Milligan's Gonzaga Lafarga. He then handled Lindsey Wilson's Mateo Larrea in the semifinals before finishing runner-up to Sholosh in the final, 1-6, 1-6.

Solda reached the quarterfinals with back-to-back 6-0, 6-0 sweeps and a gritty three-set win over UT Southern's Gaspar Audisio. Kuster also reached the Round of 16, notching two wins before bowing out to Petit.

The tandem of Cianfarini and Petit, seeded third, advanced to the quarterfinals after victories over Johnson and Brescia pairings, before narrowly falling to Bethel's Nesi and Itikawa Perini, 6-8.

The Patriots will be back in action for the UC Invite 2 on Saturday, October 4 at the UC Tennis Complex.
