Bowling Green, KY – After a perfect week in dual competition,
Riley Bettich has been named the Mid-South Conference Wrestler of the Week, conference officials announced Monday.
Bettich, a junior ranked 20
th at 125 pounds, went a flawless 6-0 on the week with all six victories coming in dual action. He opened the week with a second-period pin over Georgetown's Richie Patanjo before turning in a strong performance at the NWCA/NAIA National Duals.
At the National Duals, Bettich posted a 5-0 record, highlighted by a ranked victory. He earned three decisions, one major decision, and a forfeit victory during the event. Among his standout wins was a 4-2 decision over No. 4 Izaeh Beavers of Campbellsville, along with a 15-2 major decision over Southeastern's Erick Hair. Bettich also recorded an 8-3 decision against Providence's Blake Wooley and closed out the week with a 7-2 victory over Oklahoma City's Citrano.
The strong showing earns Bettich his first Mid-South Conference weekly honor of the season.
Bettich and the rest of the #13 Patriots will return to action on Thursday, January 15
th, to take on University of Rio Grande in Rio Grande, OH.
