Bernot Breaks 200 Free Record as Patriots Sweep Double Dual

Danville, KY – The Cumberlands men's swimming team won 11 events as Titouan Bernot broke the 200 free school record in their double-dual meet Friday night.  The Patriots defeated Centre 159-82, while posting an 186-46 win over Transylvania to improve to 6-1 on the season.

Bernot continued his impressive debut for UC this time clocking a 1:36.66 to break the 200 free school record, which was set in 2009, by almost two seconds.  That time is also the fastest time in the NAIA this season by almost a second and is a NAIA "A" standard.  Bernot collected his second national cut as he clocked a 4:38.33 to win the 500 free. 

UC opened the night with Brandon Holder, Leon Irmer, Ruthiik Satti and Arvid Farro clocking a winning time of 1:32.63 in the 200 medley relay.  UC also garnered second and third place in the event as the quartet of Adam Geddis, Alexander Poulsen, Josh Riegler, and Arda Mutlu also clipped the national cut with a time of 1:33.91. 

Holder notched a pair of provisional cuts as he won the 100 back, touching the wall in 51.43, while clocking a 21.48 to place second in the 50 free.  Farro garnered the win the 50 free sprinting to a time of 21.28.   

Poulsen continues his strong freshman campaign going 44.80 to win the 100 free. 

In the 100 breast, Irmer pulled away from the field clocking a 58.85 to win the event.  Ruthiik Satti garnered UC's final individual cut of the night as he went 52.14 in the 100 back. 

Cumberlands swept the podium in the 200 IM with Fabrizio Pacioni leading the way clocking a 1:57.52. Luke Rich (2:00.36) and Zsombor Bene (2:00.54) rounded out the podium.

Sergio Saldamando Martinez (1000 free) and Juan Pablo Ramirez Zapata (100 fly) captured the final two individual wins for the Patriots.  Maritnez touched the wall in 9:59.89, while Zapata went 52.83, respectively.

Aidan Crutchfield clipped the national cut on the one-meter board scoring a 200.55.

In the final event of the night, the 200 free relay, Geddis, Poulsen, Farro, and Bernot teamed up to clock a winning time of 1:23.11.
 
UC returns to the water on Saturday, January 24th, when they return home to host #3 Milligan.  The Patriots will honor their 2026 senior class prior to the meet, which is set to begin at 1 p.m.
