Williamsburg, KY – A week that saw multiple dominating performances, swimmer Ugne Takuseviciute and forward Nico Romero have been named the Appalachian Wireless Athletes of the Week, the athletic department announced Monday.

Ugne Takuseviciute earned Athlete of the Week honors after posting a pair of wins and a pair of national cuts. Takuseviciute opened the meet clocking an 1:56.92 to edge out the field and win the 200 free. That time is the fourth fastest time in the NAIA this season.  The junior followed that up clocking a 54.19 in the 100 free, which ranks seventh in the NAIA. Takuseviciute anchored UC's winning 400 free relay with a 53.08 split, the fastest by any competitor, as the Patriots notched a 1:50.37.  The Lithuania native was also part of UC's 200 medley relay that went 1:50.37.

Nico Romero earned Athlete of the Week honors after recording four goals across UC's two matches.  The sophomore opened the week, netting the game-winning goal against Campbellsville in the 1-0 victory.  UC pushed the ball forward finding Romero 48 seconds into the match.  He followed it up, netting his first career hat trick in Cumberlands 7-0 over Northwestern Ohio.  Romero got the scoring started in the 12' ad his made a quick move before sliding the ball into the goal.  He added a goal in the 26', before converting a penalty kick in the 33' giving the Patriots a 5-0 lead. Romero has a team-best nine goals and 18 points on the year.
