BOWLING GREEN, KY – Following a thrilling 26-25 road victory over No. 9 Georgetown, the University of the Cumberlands football team collected a pair of Mid-South Conference weekly honors, conference officials announced Monday. Drew Gregg was named MSC Offensive Player of the Week, while Khalil Arman earned MSC Special Teams Player of the Week recognition. The duo played pivotal roles in helping the Patriots improve to 6-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play, with Gregg also breaking two program career records in the victory.
Gregg delivered one of the biggest moments of his career Saturday afternoon, leading the Patriots on a game-winning touchdown drive in the final minute against the ninth-ranked Tigers. The quarterback completed 24-of-33 passes for 204 yards and a touchdown without an interception, helping UC accumulate 393 yards of total offense and 27 first downs.
Trailing 25-19 with just 51 seconds remaining, Gregg orchestrated a six-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that took only 34 seconds off the clock. After an incompletion to open the possession, Gregg connected with Ronye Watson for 16 yards to move the chains. Two plays later, the duo connected again for 27 yards to reach the Georgetown 32-yard line. Following another incompletion, Gregg found Watson for a 32-yard touchdown with just 17 seconds remaining, tying the contest at 25-25 before the go-ahead extra point secured the victory.
The game-winning touchdown pass also marked a historic milestone for Gregg, who became Cumberlands' all-time career leader in both passing touchdowns and passing yards. The quarterback now holds the program records with 49 career touchdown passes and 4,895 passing yards, adding to his career completions record established earlier this season.
Gregg also helped direct two lengthy touchdown drives in the first half, including a 12-play, 75-yard opening possession and another 12-play scoring drive in the second quarter. His performance earned him the first MSC Offensive Player of the Week honor of his career.
Arman delivered a perfect kicking performance against Georgetown, accounting for eight points in the Patriots' one-point victory. The kicker connected on both field goal attempts and converted two of his three extra-point attempts, including the game-winning PAT with 17 seconds remaining.
Arman first put the Patriots back in front late in the opening quarter, connecting on a 36-yard field goal to give UC a 9-7 advantage. He followed with a 20-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter, extending the Cumberlands lead to 19-10 at halftime.
His biggest moment came in the final seconds. After Gregg connected with Watson for the game-tying touchdown, Arman stepped up and converted the extra point to give the Patriots a 26-25 advantage and complete the dramatic comeback.
Arman has now connected on nine field goals this season, including a program-record-tying 47-yarder earlier in the year. The recognition marks his third MSC Special Teams Player of the Week honor of the 2026 season.
The two weekly awards come after Cumberlands secured its first victory over Georgetown since 2022 and snapped the Tigers' three-game winning streak in the series. The Patriots return to action carrying a 6-3 overall record and a 2-2 mark in Mid-South Conference play.
