#7 Cumberlands Picks Up Six Placers at Cumberland Open

Lebanon, TN – The seventh-ranked University of the Cumberlands men's wrestling team turned in a solid performance at the Cumberland Open on Sunday, finishing the day with six individual placers and multiple standout wins. The Patriots were led by Lincoln Krull, who finished as runner-up at 165, while five other wrestlers placed inside the top four of their brackets.

At 165, Lincoln Krull went 3-1 en route to a second-place finish. He earned back-to-back major decisions, including a 13-3 semifinal win over Blaise Meeks (Cumberland), before falling in the finals to #9 Rocky Raby (Life) by technical fall.

Also placing at 165, Jack Willen took third with a 4-1 record that included two pins and a 16-1 tech fall in the consolation finals over Corbin Falgout (Huntingdon).

Nathan Marquez secured third at 157, going 5-1 with three tech falls and a win over teammate Corbin Melvin. His only loss came to #2 Fabian Padilla (Life) in the championship bracket.

At 197, Caden Brewer placed fourth after posting a 3-2 mark that featured a pin and a decision win over #8 Efren Arizmendez (Life). He also earned a win by forfeit and reached the third-place match before falling by fall.

Treyshawn White battled to a fourth-place finish at 285, scoring decision wins over Blake Palmer (Huntingdon) and Jaylin Bien-aime (Lindsey Wilson). He added a medical forfeit win before falling in the third-place bout to #9 Emmett Bivens (Wayland Baptist).

At 125, Tristan Bryant also claimed fourth with a 4-2 showing. He opened with a fall, then earned a major decision and a forfeit win in the consolations before falling in the final round.

Also turning in a notable performance for the Patriots was graduate student Jovon Howe, who went 4-1 on the day and picked up a marquee win over #3-ranked Gabriel Jacobs (Life University).

Cumberlands will remain in Lebanon, TN to take on #11 Cumberland University in the final Mid-South Conference dual of the season. First whistle is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
