Bowling Green, KY – The University of the Cumberlands men's wrestling team continued its strong tradition of academic excellence as 16 Patriots were named to the Mid-South Conference Academic All-Conference Team, the league office announced.

Graduate student Marc Le Gaspe led the way for UC, earning the honor for the fourth time in his career. Ben Tarrago also added to his decorated résumé, garnering Academic All-Conference recognition for the third time.

Four Patriots earned the award for the second time, including Caleb Mays, Weston Melvin, Colin Tucker, and Matteo Vargo.

Cumberlands also saw 10 student-athletes earn Academic All-Conference honors for the first time. Those honorees are Andrew Allen, Derrick Bannister, Yaveion Freeman, Malachia Harris, Jovon Howe, Lincoln Krull, Ayden Lehman, Hunter Luttrell, Corbin Melvin, and Uriah Virzi.

To be eligible for the Academic All-Conference Team, each student-athlete must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and have completed at least one full year at a college or university.

UC will be back in action February 13th for the Mid-South Conference Championships in Bowling Green, KY.
