Bowling Green, KY – For the first time in his career, Jacopo Cianfarini was named Mid-South Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week following a standout performance at the Grizzly Invitational, where he helped lead the eighth-ranked Patriots to a 5-1 victory over Montreat.
The Italy native competed at the top of the lineup, delivering one of the most dominant singles performances of the weekend. Playing at No. 1 singles, Cianfarini earned a convincing straight-set victory, defeating his opponent 6-1, 6-0 to secure a key point for the Patriots.
He also made an impact in doubles play, teaming with Mohammed Abuzed Saber at No. 3 doubles to earn a commanding 6-1 victory and help Cumberlands claim the doubles point. His efforts contributed to the Patriots' strong bounce-back win and showcased his ability to perform in crucial moments.
This marks Cianfarini's first career Mid-South Conference Player of the Week honor and the third weekly award earned by a Patriots men's tennis player this season.
Cianfarini and the Patriots return to the courts on Wednesday, February 25, for their home opener against Marian University. First serve is set for 1:00 PM.
