Kansas City, MO – The University of the Cumberlands men's tennis team moved up one spot in the latest NAIA national poll, climbing to No. 7 with 231 points following a strong stretch of competition against some of the nation's top programs.

Since the previous poll, the Patriots have tested themselves on the national stage at the ITA NAIA National Indoor Tennis Championship in Rome, Georgia, where they secured a fifth-place finish against elite competition.

Cumberlands opened the event with a 5-0 loss to No. 2 Georgia Gwinnett, as the Grizzlies swept doubles and clinched the match with straight-set wins across the lineup. Despite the setback, several Patriot singles matches were tightly contested before play was halted.

The Patriots responded in impressive fashion the following day, earning a 4-0 sweep over No. 7 Holy Cross (Ind.). Cumberlands captured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 before securing straight-set victories in singles from Gabriele Solda, Kesia Roi, and Mohammed Abuzed Saber to complete the shutout.

Cumberlands closed out the Indoor Championship with a statement 4-2 victory over No. 5 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) to lock in a fifth-place finish. The Patriots once again claimed the doubles point and showed resilience in singles play, with Solda, Roi, and Abuzed Saber each battling through three-set matches. Abuzed Saber sealed the team win with a dramatic 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 victory at No. 6 singles.

The Patriots later competed at the Grizzly Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina, splitting a pair of matches. Cumberlands fell 4-0 to second-ranked Georgia Gwinnett in the morning session before bouncing back with a dominant 5-1 win over Montreat in the afternoon.

In the win over Montreat, the Patriots controlled doubles play and captured five singles victories. Jacopo Cianfarini highlighted the effort with a 6-1, 6-0 performance at No. 1 singles, while Solda, Roi, and Sampras Rakotondrainibe each added straight-set wins to secure the team result.

Within the Mid-South Conference, Cumberlands is joined in the national rankings by No. 5 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) and No. 19 Cumberland (Tenn.), highlighting the conference's strength on the national stage.

The Patriots are back on the courts today with a home matchup against No. 20 Marian (Ind.) starting at 2:00 PM.
