UC Men’s Swimming & Diving Captures Four Meet Records & Eight Wins at MSC Championships

Danville, KY – The Patriots men's swimming & diving team had a dominating performance winning all eight events and breaking four meet records to remain atop the team standings after day two of the Mid-South Conference Championships Friday night.  UC notched 688 points to extend their lead overall, while six different Pats captured individual conference titles.

UC came out strong as Brandon Holder, Leon Irmer, Ruthiik Satti, and Alexnader Poulsen joined forces to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:28.81.  That time broke the meet record by 0.64 seconds and it is the second fastest time in the NAIA this season.

Fabrizio Pacioni captured the 400 IM conference title, touching the wall in 3:53.57.  That time broke both the meet, school and conference record and is the fastest time in the NAIA this season.  Teammate Marcos del Vado Sanz went 4:18.83 to place seventh and score 12 points.

The Patriots tallied the top-four finishers in the 100 fly led by Poulsen who went 49.28 for his second conference title.  Josh Riegler edged out Ruthiik Satti by 0.08 seconds, 49.72 to 49.80, for second place, while Juan Pablo Ramirez Zapata clocked a 50.06 to place fourth.

UC also notched the top three finishers in the 100 back led by Brandon Holder, who clocked a season best time of 48.92 for the win.  Adam Geddis went 50.00 for a runner-up finish, while Zsombor Bene was third with a time of 50.80.

In the 200 free, freshman Titouan Bernot broke the meet record, which was set in 2000, by almost a second as he went 1:37.31 to capture the win.  Arvid Farro went 1:41.49 to place third, while Arda Mutlu notched a sixth place finish with a time of 1:42.78.

Leon Irmer led a trio of Patriots in the 100 breaststroke as he utilized a strong finish capturing the conference title with a mark of 55.51.  Luke Rich (57.14) and Jeremiah Koenig (57.34) both tallied top-five finishes. 

Aidan Crutchfield clipped the NAIA A cut en route to winning the 1-meter diving with a score of 224.90.

In the final event of the night, the 800 free relay, Koenig, Pacioni, Mutlu, and Bernot teamed up for a meet record time of 6:45.81.  That time is the fourth fastest in the NAIA this season.

Cumberlands returns to the water Saturday, February 7th, for the final day of competition at the Mid-South Conference Championships.  Prelims are set for 11 a.m. with finals beginning at 6:30 p.m.
