Williamsburg, KY – The second-ranked Patriots women's lacrosse team went on an 11 goal run, that spanned 25 minutes, to defeat fifth-ranked Life 18-5 Saturday afternoon at the UC Lacrosse Complex. With the win, the Patriots improve to 9-1 on the season, while the Running Eagles move to 2-4.
Christina Carter led the way with a career-high six points, while
Lenora DeVries netted four goals to go along with a trio of ground balls.
Emma Rittman tallied three goals, an assist, nine draw controls, and three ground balls.
Anna Lobbezoo notched four points.
Koral Hadac notched five caused turnovers and five ground balls as Mikyla Kimsey made 12 saves in the win.
Kimsey made a save on the first possession of the game, while Hadac forced a turnover a minute later that led to a Rittman goal as UC took the 1-0 lead. Both teams traded shots before DeVries notched a well-place free position goal making it 2-1. The Running Eagles tied the score before Carter found a cutting DeVries for her 19
th goal of the season. Two minutes later

The Patriots came out strong in the second quarter with
Ashlee Baker and Rittman netting back-to-back goals a minute into the period. UC continued to win the draw control and maintain possession as Carter, DeVries, and Lobbezoo tallied goals making it 9-3 with 7:59 remaining. Later in the quarter
Kaitlyn Friel forced a failed clear for Life and on the ensuing possession
Tess Lisy finished extending the lead to 10-3. In the closing seconds of the half, Kimsey notched a save to keep the Patriots in front 10-3.
UC continued their momentum into the third quarter netting four straight goals, while tallying a pair of caused turnovers, making it 14-3 with 10:02 left. Carter tallied a pair of goals on that run, while Joines capped it off with a shot into the upper corner of the cage. Kimsey added a pair of saves, while Baker netted her second goal of the game to give the Pats a 15-5 lead.
Kimsey tallied a pair of saves in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter before Rittman and Friel converted man-up goals to make it 17-5. Cumberlands defense kept applying intense pressure as Kimsey added four saves for the 18-5 final.
Cumberlands returns to the field Monday, March 16
