Williamsburg, KY – The second-ranked Patriots netted ten second quarter goals to defeat #9 Missouri Baptist 19-6 Monday afternoon at the UC Lacrosse Complex. The game was called after the third quarter due to inclement weather as Cumberlands improves to 10-1 on the season.
Ashlee Baker paced the Pats with eight points (4 goals, 4 assists), while
Emma Rittman added five goals, six draw controls, and three ground balls.
Anna Lobbezoo and
Lenora DeVries combined for eight goals and three assists, while
Allison Joines dished out a trio of assists.
Koral Hadac notched four caused turnovers and three ground balls as Mikayla Kimsiey made three saves.
The Spartans (4-3) jumped out to a 2-1 advantage, however, Devries won the next draw control and netted the equalizer off an assist from Lobbezoo. Baker netted consecutive goals putting UC in front 4-2 with 6:12 remaining. UC's defense forced a trio of Missouri Baptist turnovers before
Tess Lisy found DeVries cutting towards the cage for a goal extending the lead to 5-2.
Missouri Baptist netted a goal 28 seconds in the second quarter cutting the lead to 5-3. Lobbezoo and DeVries tallied a goal and an assist as part of a three-goal run making it 8-3 with 10:42 remaining. Cumberlands won four of the next five draw controls, scoring goals on each possession extending their lead to 12-4 midway through the second quarter. Rittman added a man-up goal before Joines scooped a loose ball and fired it under the crossbar for a goal giving the Pats a 14-4 lead. Kimsey made a pair of saves and in the closing seconds of the half, Hadac scooped a ground ball and, on the transition, Joines found Lobbezoo for a goal making it 15-4 at the break.
Both goalies made a save to open the third quarter before Joines connected with Lobbezoo for a goal two minutes into the period. UC added a man-up goal from Baker, while a few minutes later

Kendall Doran for her first collegiate goal, a man-down goal making it 18-4. Missouri Baptist netted back-to-back goals as snow continued to come down on the field. Baker converted a free position goal in the closing seconds of the third quarter to take the 19-6 lead.
With snow and wind continuing to pound the field it was decided to end the game and not play the fourth quarter.
Cumberlands returns to the field Friday, March 20
th, when they travel to Savannah, GA to face #3 SCAD. First draw is set for 11 a.m.
