#6 Patriots Earn Road Win Behind Cook’s Career Day

West Point, GA – Nathan Cook netted a career-high six goals to pace the sixth-ranked Patriots men's lacrosse team to a 15-10 win over Point Thursday afternoon.  With the win, UC improves to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in AAC play, while the Skyhawks move to 5-4 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Cook's six goal is tied for sixth most in program history. Caden Abbott tallied six points, for the second straight game, while Will Rogers added two goals and an assist.  Dakota White went 10-19 on faceoff with five ground balls, while Nathan Foskey made nine saves in the win.

Nathan Foskey made a save to open the game and on the ensuing transition Nathan Cook made a strong dodge and netted a goal putting UC in front 1-0 with 12:21 remaining.  After UC forced a turnover, Caden Abott found Sid Stewart in front of the cage for a goal making it 2-0.  The Skyhawks evened the score at 2-2 until Abbott connected with Ty Grooms for a transition goal putting Cumberlands in front 3-2 with 2:44 remaining. In the closing second of the quarter, Cook put a well-placed shot into the cage making it a 4-2 advantage. 

Cumberlands extended their lead early into the second quarter as Will Rogers found Brody Hermann cutting towards the cage.  From that point UC defense continued with strong as Foskey made a pair of saves keeping the Patriots in front 5-4 at the break.

The Skyhawks evened the score at 5-5 before Dakota White won the faceoff and found Cook for a goal putting UC back in front with 13:03 remaining.  The game was tied two more times, before Grooms forced a Point turnover and, on the transition, Kuwese Walker netted an unassisted goal making it 8-7.  Cumberlands tacked on four goals, including a pair from Cook extending the lead to 12-7 with 28 seconds remaining. 

The two teams traded goals to open the fourth quarter as Cumberlands took control of the possession.  Midway through the period Cook and Rogers netted back-to-back goals, 42 seconds apart to make it 15-9 in favor of UC.  The Patriots picked up the intensity on the defensive end as Foskey notched a trio of saves for the 15-10 final.
