Kansas City, MO – The University of the Cumberlands men's golf team climbed four spots in the latest NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll, moving up to No. 19 with 191 points following a strong start to the spring season. 

The Patriots opened their spring campaign with an impressive showing at the Currahee Club Invitational in Toccoa, Georgia. Cumberlands finished third out of nine teams with a three-round total of +35, competing against a field that included several ranked programs. 

UC placed behind No. 17 Indiana Wesleyan (+17) and No. 4 Webber International (+26), while finishing ahead of No. 7 Marian (Ind.), which placed fourth with a team score of +41. 

The Patriots were led by Pedro Morgado and Pablo Lopez Martin, who each secured top-five finishes. Morgado carded rounds of 75 (+3), 71 (-1), and 76 (+4) to finish tied for fifth with a 222 (+6). Lopez Martin matched that total to also finish T-5 with rounds of 75 (+3), 72 (E), and 75 (+3), highlighting his tournament with five birdies and an eagle. 

Alexei Butchart posted the Patriots' lowest round of the event with a 71 (-1) in the final round. He finished tied for 12th overall with a 226 (+10) after rounds of 77 (+5), 78 (+6), and 71 (-1) while recording six birdies during the tournament. 

Eli Fischer also turned in a solid performance, finishing T-18 with a 229 (+13) after rounds of 76 (+4), 77 (+5), and 76 (+4) while tallying seven birdies across the three rounds. Theo Andersson rounded out the Patriots' team scoring with rounds of 78 (+6), 79 (+7), and 77 (+5) to place T-25 with a 234 (+18). 

Cumberlands is one of four teams from the Mid-South Conference represented in the poll. Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) checks in at No. 11, while Bethel (Tenn.) and Campbellsville (Ky.) are receiving votes in the national rankings. 

The Patriots will return to action on March 30-31 when they host the Patriot Invite in London, KY.
