Cumberlands in Fifth Place After Pair of All-American Performances

Elkhart, IN – The Cumberlands women's swimming & diving team notched a pair of NAIA All-American performance and broke one school record to be in fifth place after day one of the NAIA National Championships, Wednesday night at the Elkhart Aquatic Center.  The Patriots have tallied 56 points to be in fifth place of the team standings. 
 
UC opened the night tallying a sixth place finish in the 200 medley relay.  The quartet of Sarah Zoellner, Megan Schoelein, Bella Hoare, and Celin Ullern teamed up to clock a 1:45.41.  Zoellner began the race splitting a 26.98, before Schoenlein split a 29.03.  Hoare notched a 26.06 in the fly, while Ullern closed out with a 23.34 to capture All-American honors. 
 
Cumberlands followed that up with a record-breaking performance in the 800 free relay.  Hoare led of the relay splitting a 1:51.92, before Juliana Lopez Morales and Helena Jarosz took the middle two legs as UC was 5:41.74 heading into the anchor.  Ugne Takuseviciute clocked a 1:52.77 to close out the relay as the Patriots touched the wall in 7:34.51.  That time broke the school record by almost a second as the Patriots notched a fourth-place finish. 
 
 
The Patriots return to the water Thursday, March 5th, for day two of the NAIA Championship.  Prelims are at 9 a.m. with finals beginning at 5 p.m.  Fans can catch all the action from Elkhart, IN here.
