Williamsburg, KY – The second-ranked UC women's lacrosse team has seven players tally multiple goals as they defeated UHSP 20-2 Saturday night at the UC Lacrosse Complex. With the win, UC improves to 9-0 on the year, while the Eutectics move to 1-3.
Ashlee Baker led the way tying her career-high with six assists to go along with a pair of goals.
Lenora DeVries added five points, while
Anna Lobbezoo tallied two goals, two assists and a pair of ground balls.
Allison Joines and
Emma Rittman each tallied hattricks in the game.
Koral Hadac tallied a team-best four caused turnovers and scooped three ground balls, while
Christina Carter and
Jenna Veech notched three caused turnovers each.
Mikayla Kimsey tallied four saves in the win.
The Patriots jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first quarter. UC netted six goals from five different players, including a pair of goals from
Kaitlyn Friel to take control of the game five minutes in. Kimsey notched a save before Baker and Devries connected twice making it 8-0.
Cumberlands defense picked up the intensity forcing multiple turnovers, while Joines netted a pair of goals, including a man-down goal to make it 11-0 midway through the second quarter. Later in the quarter the two teams traded goals as UC took a 12-1 lead into the break.
UC controlled the possession majority of the third quarter as they netted five unanswered goals, capped off with a
Kameron Mayfield goal to make it 17-1. The two teams traded goals into in the fourth quarter before
Machenzie Willis put a well-placed shot to net her first collegiate goal as Cumberlands earned the 20-2 final.
The Patriots tallied a 33-7 advantage on shots, while holding a 19-5 lead on draw controls.
Cumberlands returns to the field Tuesday, March 10
