Bowling Green, KY - For the second time this season, Jacopo Cianfarini has been named the Mid-South Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week after a strong performance that helped the #7 Patriots split a pair of matches last week.
The Italy native competed at the top of the lineup, delivering a key victory in singles play against Huntington. Playing at No. 1 singles, Cianfarini battled back after dropping the first set to defeat Julian Tantera in three sets, 6-7, 6-2, 6-2, securing an important point in the Patriots' 4-1 victory.
Cianfarini also contributed in doubles action alongside Mohammed Abuzed Saber at No. 2 doubles. The duo earned a 6-5 victory over Huntington's Martin Capdevilla and Pablo Lopez Real to help Cumberlands claim the doubles point.
Earlier in the week, Cianfarini competed at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles against Jacksonville State, continuing to lead the Patriots at the top of the lineup.
This marks Cianfarini's second Mid-South Conference Player of the Week honor this season and the fourth weekly award earned by a Patriots men's tennis player this year.
Cianfarini and the Patriots return to the courts on Monday, March 9, for a home match against No. 19 Cumberland (Tenn.). First serve is set for 1:00 PM.
