Kingsport, TN – After helping led the #7 Patriots to back-to-back wins, Cumberlands goalie
JD Cook has been named the AAC Defensive Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday. This marks the first weekly honor for the Dacula, GA native.
Cook was nearly unstoppable in UC's 23-6 road win over Montreat. The junior made a career-high 20 saves in the contest, making ten saves in both halves. Cook open the game with six first quarter saves as the Patriots jumped out to a 7-1 lead. He added five saves in each the third and fourth quarters, while posting a 76.9% save percentage for the game.
JD Cook also scooped four ground balls in the win as he improves to 2-0 on the season.
On the year, Cook has a 65.7% save percentage with 44 saves over three games.
The Patriots will return to the field on Thursday, April 16
th, when they travel to Savannah, GA to face the fourth-ranked Bees. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
