Hardeeville, SC – The seventh-ranked Cumberlands men's lacrosse team forced six ties, however, a late four-goal run lead to #4 SCAD earning a 15-11 win Thursday night at the SCAD Lacrosse Field. With the win the Bees improve to 13-3 overall and 6-2 in AAC play, while the Patriots move to 7-6 overall and 4-4 in conference play.
Nathan Cook and
Carter Barrett each tallied hat tricks in the game, while Caden Abott notched a goal and two assists.
Kuwese Walker tallied a team-high three caused turnovers, while
Jeffrey Fisher scooped five ground balls in the game.
JD Cook made nine saves in the game.
SCAD struck first, however, the Patriots responded with
Nathan Cook firing a shot into the back of the cage tying the game at 1-1. The Bees netted two of the next three games, however, UC responded as Fisher scooped a ground ball and on the next possession Abbott found a cutting
Dom Lulow for a goal to even the score at 3-3. Cumberlands looked to take the lead but a pair of shots deflected off the post as the game remained 3-3 after the first quarter.
After trading possessions to open the second period,
Aiden Hamilton won a faceoff and found
Will Rogers for a goal tying the game at 4-4 with 9:37 remaining. It marks Hamilton first career point. Barrett and
Caleb Mason each added a goal, while
JD Cook made a pair of saves as UC trailed SCAD 7-6 at the break.
The Bees extended their lead to 8-6 early in the third quarter, however, the Patriots rallied as Roger connected with Abbott for a man-up goal to pull within one, 8-7.

Nathan Cook netted his second goal of the contest tying the game at 8-8 midway through the third quarter. SCAD added a pair of late goals in the period to take a 10-8 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Patriots looked to rally in the fourth quarter as Cook completed a hat trick to pull UC within a goal. The two teams traded goals before Walker forced a turnover. On the ensuing possession Abbott connected with
Sid Stewart for a goal, tying the game at 11-11 with 8:32 remaining. SCAD netted the final four goals of the game for the 15-11 final.
The Patriots return to the field Saturday, April 18
th, when they travel to Columbia, SC to face the Koalas. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
