Bowling Green, KY – For the third consecutive year, nine members of the Cumberlands Men's Tennis team have garnered Mid-South Conference Academic All-Conference honors, conference officials announced Thursday afternoon. The Mid-South Conference also named Manuel Fernandez Guede as UC's Champion of Character representative. 

Those nominated for the MSC Academic All-Conference Team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must be in their third term or fourth quarter. 36 student-athletes across the conference were recognized for their efforts in the classroom. 

Earning academic honors for the third time in his career is Manuel Fernandez Guede, continuing to showcase his consistency both on the court and in the classroom. 

The Patriots that received the honor for the second time include Sampras Rakotondrainibe, Darius Kuster, Gabriele Solda, Thibaud Vivier, and Apivich Rojpiboonphan. 

First-time honorees for Cumberlands include Jacopo Cianrafini, Karl Etzel, and Kazuma Tani. 

Cumberlands tied with Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) to lead all MSC teams with nine honorees out of 36 total student-athletes represented. 

The MSC also recognizes a Champions of Character Team for each championship sport. The student-athletes selected for this honor are nominated by their coaches based on their leadership on campus and in the community while exemplifying the five core character values of the NAIA. 

UC opens action as the 2-seed at the MSC Tournament on Friday, April 17 against the 7-seed Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.). The first serve is slated for 1:00 PM CT in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
