Williamsburg, KY – Earning Medalist honors and helping the team capture the team title, Patriots golfers Atchariya Thanaudomkul and Eli Fischer have been named the Pepsi Athletes of the Week honors, the athletic department announced Monday.
Atchariya Thanaudomkul earned Athlete of the Week honors after capturing Medalist honors. At the Patriots Invite, Thanaudomkul birdied her first hole before closing out the first round with a 77 (+4). In the second round, the junior once again opened with a birdie and added a birdie on hole 1 to close out the second round with a 73 (E) to climb up the leaderboard. Thanaudomkul recorded five birdies in the third round a shot even par, 73, to close out the tournament with a 223 (+4). The junior won the tournament by five strokes and helped UC capture the team title.
Eli Fischer earned Athlete of the Week honors after earning Medalist honors at the Patriots Invite. Fischer led wire-to-wire after carding a 68 (-4) in the first round. The senior sank six birdies during the first round. Fischer followed that up carding a 72 (E) in the second round before sinking birdies on holes 15 & 16 in the final round to card a 72 (E). Fischer closed out the tournament with a 54-hole score of 212 (-4) to win the event by two strokes, while helping the Patriots capture the team title.
