Cumberlands Archery Post National Runner-Up Finish to Close Out Target Nationals

Lansing, MI – The Patriots archery team recorded a national title and a pair of national runner-up finishes Sunday to clinch a national runner-up finish at the 2026 Collegiate Target Nationals at the Hope Sports Complex.  UC closed out the weekend recording 103 points as the finish the year with their third national runner-up finish of the season.

Aiden Woodie opened the day in the gold medal match of men's fixed pins.  The freshman carded a 29 or better in each of the four ends to take a seven point lead over James Brown of Texas A&M.  In the final end, Woodie tallied a 27 to clinch the match and the victory 145-139 for his first individual national title.  It capped of a 6-0 record during head-to-head eliminations and marked his second title of the week as he was part of UC's gold medal men's fixed pins team.

Lanie Nish notched a 5-0 mark to reach the gold medal match for the second consecutive year.  The sophomore fell behind early but tied the second end as both archers recorded 27 points.  Nish couldn't overcome the early deficit as she captured a national runner-up finish and her third individual podium finish of her career. 

In the final gold medal match, Woodie partnered with Ayla Mills in the mixed fixed pins division.  The duo carded a perfect 40 in the second end to even the score at 137-137.  The score remained tied after the third end, however, Texas A&M outscored UC in the final end for the 151-148 final as the Patriots captured a national runner-up finish. 

Texas A&M captured the team title with 169 points.  MSC rivals Lindsey Wilson placed fourth, while Union Commonwealth finished sixth.
