Ypsilanti, MI - The University of the Cumberlands women's golf team sits tied for ninth place with a score of 312 (+24) following the completion of the opening round at the 2026 NAIA Women's Golf National Championship.
Inclement weather forced the suspension of play Tuesday during the opening round at Eagle Crest Golf Club, with the remainder of the round concluding Wednesday morning. Due to the weather delay, the championship has been shortened to a 54-hole event.
With only half of the field completing play Tuesday, the Patriots ended day one in third place at +15 behind SCAD-Savannah (+6) and Dalton State (+10). All five Cumberlands golfers began their opening rounds on hole 10, with Ainslee Cruce leading the Patriots at +2 through the opening day of action.
Cruce continued her strong play Wednesday morning, carding three birdies in the opening round to finish with a 76 (+4), tying for 22nd individually. Atchariya Thanaudomkul finished two strokes behind at 78 (+6), tying for 46th after recording one birdie during round one.
Ginevra Capo, McKenzie Trautman, and Jasmine Points each concluded the opening round tied for 57th with scores of 79 (+7). Points totaled two birdies during the round, while Capo and Trautman each added one birdie apiece.
The second round of the NAIA National Championship is scheduled to begin Thursday morning, with the Patriots teeing off at 2:10 PM EST. Following round two, the field will be reduced to the top 15 teams plus ties, along with the top six individuals not on an advancing team plus ties, for Friday's final round.
