Williamsburg, KY – After leading the Cumberlands softball program to the 2026 NAIA World Series, head coach Bruce Lennington has stepped down to pursue other coaching opportunities, it was announced Thursday afternoon. Coach Lennington guided the Patriots to a 40-21 record, culminating in their fourth straight trip to the NAIA World Series during the 2026 season.
"We would like to thank Coach Lennington for his great leadership this past season and wish him the best in his future endeavors," said Athletic Director Chris Kraftick.
In his one season with the Patriots, Coach Lennington posted an 18-13 record against teams that qualified for the NAIA National Championship, including a perfect 5-0 record against (RV) Campbellsville and splitting a two-game series with #1 Madonna. UC compiled a 12-6 record in MSC play to earn the second-seed in the conference tournament before reaching the tournament championship game. The Patriots hosted the NAIA Opening Round for the fourth straight season, where they rallied from the elimination bracket defeating top-seed Keiser twice to capture the tournament win and advance to the World Series.
Under Coach Lennington's guidance, the Patriots had multiple players break single season records.
Jessica Cord broke the wins record, earning 24 victories on the season, while also setting program records for appearances (47) and innings pitched (248.1).
Grace Ross shattered the homerun record, blasting 19 homers, while her 61 RBIs and 19 doubles both rank second in program history. Cord & Ross were joined by Emily Delagado and
Aniyah White as MSC First Team All-Conference selections.
