Williamsburg, KY – University of the Cumberlands Athletic Director Chris Kraftick has announced the promotion of Ashley Konrad to Head Athletic Trainer, while Brina Strebeck has transitioned to the Director of Sports Medicine Operations, it was announced on Tuesday.

Konrad assumes the role as longtime Head Athletic Trainer Peggy Haus transitions to a full time teaching role in the Health Exercise and Sports Science department. Konrad brings valuable experience, familiarity, and a strong commitment to student-athlete care to the position after serving at UC for over a decade including being full-time within the department since 2018.

"We are excited to announce Ashley Konrad as our next Head Athletic Trainer," said Kraftick. "Ashley has been an important part of our athletic training staff over the past several years and has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, professionalism, and dedication to the well-being of our student-athletes. She understands the culture of Cumberlands Athletics and is well prepared to continue advancing our sports medicine department."

Konrad joined the University of the Cumberlands athletic training staff in the summer of 2018 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. Since arriving on campus, she has worked closely with several Patriot programs, including men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's swimming & diving, and men's and women's bowling.

Throughout her time at Cumberlands, Konrad has played a key role in providing injury prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and day-to-day healthcare for Patriot student-athletes while helping support the continued growth of the university's athletic training operations.

"I'm incredibly honored to be named Head Athletic Trainer at a place that has meant so much to me for the past 10 years," said Konrad. "I'm grateful for the trust, support, and relationships built along the way, and I'm excited to continue caring for and supporting our student-athletes and programs in this new role."

A graduate of Graceland University, Konrad earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training along with a minor in Business Administration. She later completed her Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of the Cumberlands in 2018. Konrad currently holds athletic training licensure in the state of Kentucky and remains active professionally as a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA). She is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and also holds certifications in FMS Level 1 and NASM Corrective Exercise.

Strebeck becomes the Director of Sports Medicine Operations after serving as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for over two decades. Strebeck brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this new role in which her duties will include revamping and consolidating our policies and procedures, inventory management and budgeting, and ensuring USCAH and CPR compliance.

"Ashley's and Brina's passion for athletic training and commitment to serving student-athletes make them tremendous fits for these positions," Kraftick added. "We are confident the future of sports medicine at Cumberlands is in great hands."
