Bowling Green, KY – After helping the second-ranked Patriots women's soccer team open the season with a shutout victory, midfielder Laura Bosca was named the MSC Defensive Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday. It marks her first weekly honor of her career.

Bosca impacted both ends of the pitch in Cumberlands 3-0 season opening win over Union Commonwealth. Defensively, she was pivotal in limiting Union's possession as the Bulldogs notched one corner kick and no shots in the match. Additionally, Bosca was able to turn a turnover into an assist as she found Carmen Villa for a goal, late in the first half extending UC's led to 3-0. The win marks Cumberlands first shutout of the season.

Cumberlands returns to the pitch Thursday, August 27th, when they host #8 Truett-McConnell in a top ten match-up.  Gametime is set for 1 p.m. with live video available here.
