Kansas City, MO – The University of the Cumberlands athletic department is one of the premier athletic departments in the NAIA, excelling records both within their sports as well as in the classroom.  The Patriots are coming off posting a department-best GPA of 3.40, while 24 teams were named NAIA Scholar-Team honors for the 2025-2026 school year, announced by the NAIA National office Tuesday as part of the NAIA National Awards Day.  
 
The Patriots continue to showcase student-athletes success as UC has compiled a department best 3.40 cumulative GPA over the past year with 28 teams achieving at least a 3.00 team GPA.  In addition, 16 Patriot teams have notched at least a 3.50 team GPA or higher.  The Patriots had 384 student-athletes capture Academic All-Conference honors, while 221 earned NAIA Scholar-Athletes distinction.  This is the seventh time in the last seven years that UC had at least 19 teams earn this distinction.
 
Baseball, women's basketball, women's bowling, cheerleading, men's cross country, women's cross country, men's golf, women's golf, men's indoor track & field, women's indoor track & field, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's outdoor track & field, women's outdoor track & field, men's soccer, women's soccer, softball, men's swimming & diving, women's swimming & diving, men's tennis, women's tennis, volleyball, men's wrestling and women's wrestling are all repeat winners of this distinction. 
 
Women's golf led the way for the Patriots with a 3.85 GPA with women's archery, women's basketball, women's bowling, women's cross country, women's lacrosse, women's tennis, and volleyball all achieving at least a 3.70 GPA. During the spring semester, Cumberlands had 16 teams achieve a team GPA of 3.50 or higher. 
 
To be eligible each team would have to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2025-2026 school year. The full list of honorees can be found here.
