Kansas City, MO – The Patriots volleyball team remained in the top-ten after holding strong being ranked tenth in the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll, released by the national office Wednesday. UC opened the season 9-1 with four wins over teams that are ranked or receiving votes.
Cumberlands is coming off a 4-0 weekend at the IU Kokomo Classic, including earning wins over #9 Mount Vernon Nazarene and #13 IU Kokomo. UC is seventh in the NAIA with a .269 hitting percentage, while averaging 12.89 kills per set and 12.38 assists per sets.
Leading the way for UC is
Brynnley Bryant, the reigning NAIA Attacker of the Week, who has tallied 141 kills and 86 digs on the year.
Sara Zampedri has notched 119 kills and 121 digs, while
Alana Shiery and
Martina Frangella have combined for 55 blocks and 104 kills.
Savanah Jolly continues to be a catalyst for the Pats offense with 355 assists, averaging 9.86 assists per set.
Eastern Oregon received 17 first place votes to be ranked atop the poll, while Northwestern is ranked second. Concordia, Corban, and McPherson round out the top five.
The Patriots improve to 9-1 on the year will return to the court Friday, September 4th, when they host the Cumberland Invite. UC will face Bethel (IN) at 3 p.m. with live video available
