Nixon earned the male athlete of the month honors after leading the Patriots to a 3-0 record in non-conference play. The sophomore went 33-46 for 535 yards and 11 touchdowns through the air to go along with 159 rushing yards and a touchdown. Nixon has led Cumberlands to the a NAIA-best 59.0 points per game, while UC ranks in the top-ten of the NAIA in total yards. The Nashville, TN native has become the first Patriot quarterback since at least 2004 to throw for at least three touchdowns in three straight games to open the season. On the year, Nixon has a 71.7% completion rate, however, in the last two games his completion rate rose to 83.3%. Nixon was named the Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week once, while last week he helped Brandon Stuckey earn that award after the combo connected for three grabs, 143 yards, and three scores. The Nashville, TN native has also gotten it done on the ground as he second on the team with 159 rushing yards, including a 57-yard touchdown against Florida Memorial. Nixon has led the Patriots to a five game win-streak overall.
