Darius James earned athlete of the week honors after rushing for 98 yards on 12 carries with two scores in the Patriots season opening win over Kentucky Christian. The sophomore rushed for 34-yards on the opening drive to put the Patriots offense in position to score, before adding an 11-yard rushing touchdown later in the quarter as UC went ahead 14-0. James closed out the first quarter by cutting towards the outside for a 36-yard touchdown run to extend the lead to 21-0. The Nashville, TN native averaged 8.2 yards per carry and add a 17-yard punt return.
