Alina Boshchuk earned athlete of the week honors after breaking the 5k school record.  Boshchuk competed at the Royals XC Challenge against NCAA DI and NCAA DII competition.  The sophomore crossed the line in 17:19.3 to be the top NAIA finisher in the race.  Boshchuk got off to a fast pace going through the 2.4k mark at 8:10.8 before splitting an 8:29.1 over the second 2.4k to be at 16:39.9 through 4.8k.  The Ukraine native broke the previous school record of 17:28.6 by over nine seconds and she currently holds the three fastest time in program history.
